A day out in Durham

Saturday 6 June 2015

The other day my friends and I spontaneously decided to hop on the train to Durham for the day. It's only 15 minutes on the train from Newcastle and we thought it would be nice to catch up and have a change of scenery. As it happened we picked a really nice day and I thought I would share a few photos I took.

Despite having breakfast already I couldn't resist having a full English breakfast along with my friends at this cute little café called 9 Alters Cafe overlooking the river. The food was really good and the portion size was well worth the £3.95 price tag that included tea and toast!! Being a true Yorkshire lass I love a good bargain and this was amazing value for money. I think we stayed in there well over an hour and a half just chatting away and drinking tea (we are very civilised). If you decide to visit the area I would definitely recommend going there. The table next to us ordered some sandwiches and I was tempted to just stay in the café and order more food. Next time I will  definitely be having one of the cute cakes they have as I really couldn't manage another thing after the full English breakfast!

If anyone has any other recommendations for places to eat in Durham let me know! I think next time I'm going to take Alfie, my dog, so anywhere with outdoor seating or that allows dogs is a must!
